Weekend Picks: October 24-26, 2014

Why wait until October 31 to celebrate Halloween? Alexandrians sure don’t! This weekend, Alexandria is abuzz with Halloween-themed festivities, from ghost tours to costume parades to trick-or-treating for dogs and kids.

 

Ghost and Graveyard Special Halloween Tour

Friday, October 24, 7 a.m.-9 p.m.; tours run every 15 minutes

Get in the “spirit” of Halloween and explore Alexandria’s haunted hotspots in a Ghost and Graveyard Halloween Tour, which comes to a chill-inducing conclusion in the bedroom of the infamous “Female Stranger” at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum.

 

Trick or Treat with the Boo-tiques

Saturday, October 25, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Doggy Trick-or-Treat

Sunday, October 26, doggy goody bag pickup from 1-3 p.m and trick-or-treat until close of business

Old Town Boutique District

Try not to trip over the hobgoblins and gnomes on the prowl for treats at this Old Town Boutique District annual event. The fun continues on Sunday, October 26, with Doggy Trick-or-Treat hosted by The Dog Park.

October 25-November 15, Wed.-Sat. at 8 p.m. and Sun. at 3 p.m.

For a more, shall we say, mature take on Halloween, catch this classic, campy musical that inspired the cult film at Alexandria’s Little Theatre and do the time warp alongside Brad, Janet and Dr. Frank-N-Furter for a night of adults-only fun.
