Nasime, a tiny 20-seat Japanese concept that opened in the fall of 2016, has received high praise from The Washington Post. Chef and owner Yuh Shimomura showcases the non-sushi side of Japanese cuisine with a one-of-a-kind experience of a five-course tasting menu for just $48. The evolving menu has included cauliflower surinagashi, bonito tuna tataki, and a chocolate spring roll.

Popular Indian and Nepalese restaurant Namaste opened their second location in Alexandria right on King Street in December 2016. It’s a great spot for vegetarian food and offers an authentic and affordable menu with sizable portions that will definitely be enough for tomorrow’s lunch, including chef specialty lamb chana chops with barbecued lamb chop, cooked ginger and chickpeas.

Sunday in Saigon is the newest and one of the most exciting additions to Alexandria’s selection of Asian restaurants. Opened by the chef and owner of Caphe Banh Mi in North Old Town in spring 2017, Sunday in Saigon seemingly has it all. From outdoor dining to a special wine lounge with prepaid cards and an “aeration station” as well as a full bar and beautiful Vietnamese decorations, the atmosphere and concept alone make it a must-try, and we haven’t even gotten to the food yet. The ginger chicken is one of the best dishes in Old Town, and the rest of the menu is equally mouthwatering. Check out the bar for special Japanese-style tapas and specialty cocktails as well.
