Excellent news! This weekend starts on Thursday, with more exclusive Alexandria events than ever before. Whether you’re celebrating your family, a huge shopping win, the City’s Irish heritage or one seriously awesome author, there’s one thing I can just about guarantee: there will be dancing, there will be crafts, and there will be fun. Lots of it.

This month’s First Thursday kicks off the season with a bang. Under the theme “playdate,” kids are invited to don their pajamas at an outdoor sleepover of sorts, and participate in activities stretching from Monroe to Commonwealth aves like terra cotta pot decorating, personal pizza making at FireFlies, yoga fun with YoKid and an exclusive raffle with prizes from Del Ray businesses. Hint for parents: there’ll also be kid eye exams at eye2eye and safety demonstrations like car seat inspections courtesy of the Alexandria police, fire and sheriff’s departments. Everyone in the family wins!
39th Annual Ballyshaners Irish Festival

With Alexandria’s rich Irish heritage, it’s no wonder we like to raise our glasses to Ireland every year. All proceeds benefit the City’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
